Today the 11th of July the final meeting of the stakeholders in Edo/ Nigerian politics and governance was held under the chairmanship of Inec Chairman Prof. Atahiru Jega amidst top security.The meeting was attended by the top brass of the Nigerian police led by the Inspector general of police of nigeria Alhaji abubakar Diko, and present where DiG of the south south zone DIG Akpoyinbo, AIG Argungu and top militatry and SSS brass of the Nigerian federation.
In attendace of the meeting are Governorship candidates of political parties, party chairmen and secretaries. Among the governorship contenders that attended the meeting includes all the seven candidate of Comrade Adams Oshiomole of ACN, Gen Charles Airkhivere, Prince Frank Ukonga of SDMP, Chief Solomon Edebiri of ANPP, Chief Roland Izebuwa of CPC, Mr Paul Orunwense of NCP,Mr Andrew Igwemoh of Labour Party.Prof. Atahiru Jega noted that all the training of inec staff has been successful done and the full funds for the july 2012 polls has been disbursed.The voter register has been printed and all complains raised by political parties already addressed.. He later sued for peace in the forth comming polls. In his own contribution the Inspector General of Police siad that all the security operatives for the success of the election are already on groud and ready to maintain top security in the state during and after the elections.Each candidate for the polls were allowed to speak and air out thier grievances and solution were immediately found to problems.The ACN candidate who is the incubent Governor of the state noted that some parties have printed fake voters cards, fake inec identification cards which is suspect to be used to rig the election, he tenders samples of the fake materials as exibites and the Inec chairman agreed they were indeed fake ones.The PDP party candidate , Gen Charles Airkhavere said that some posters are positions in public buildings that will bee used for the polls and he pleeded th was an inducement of the public and it was immediately resolved that all posters and bills on the public buildings to be used as a voting centre be removed for an equal level playing ground for all the candidates. In his own remark Prince Frank Ukonga the SDMP candidate in the polls praised the tenacity of Prof. Atahiru jega in his determination to entrench great democratic culture in the largest country of the black race in Africa and the entire globe..Prince frank ukonga complained about excessive cash inducement of voters, under age votes, as well as the issue of thugas wearing fake police uniforms and creating havoc on election day.The Prince also thanked the Inspector General of Police and all other security operatives including the Nigerian army that came to help established peace and well being in Edo state.
