China-Nigeria Relations: Frank Ukonga commends the new
policy trust of Nigeria towards closer bilateral and economic Relation with the
Republic of China; commend President Jonathan’s visit to China.
The new policy thrust of the Nigerian Federation towards closer
economic and bilateral relations with the Republic of China is highly commendable
which manifested in the visit of H.E. President Goodluck Jonathan and the First
Lady H.E Dame Patience Jonathan to China yesterday. The soft loan package of
China to Nigeria is also highly appreciated but the President is also expected
to harp in on the new proposed Sino Nigeria relations of Technology transfer as
mandatory conditions to access the huge Nigeria Market.
Many Nigerian manufacturing companies have closed shop due
to the dumping of cheap Chinese goods into the Nigeria market thereby causing
unemployment, redundancy, and social strives, frustrations and a downturn of
our GDP. The textile industries of Sharada industrial estate in Kano, the
textile industries of the Kaduna and the Oshodi- Isolo textile conglomerates have
all closed shops or working below installed capacity utilization. The cheap
electronics and pharmaceuticals products dumped into the Nigeria market is also
closing shops of local manufacturers; these and many more are expected to be discussed
by the President H.E. Goodluck Jonathan with the President of China.
We look forward to more pragmatic, functional and
progressive Sino Nigerian Relations.
Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria, long live the
Republic of China
Prince Frank Onaivi Ukonga
Chairman, SDP Edo
