Breaking News: IPAC and Nigerian Civil Society Orgs. Summit on Inclusion of Women and PWDS and Review of Political Parties Code of Conduct.
The IPAC-Inter Party Advisory Council and members of the Nigerian Civil Society Situation Room held a summit of the 22ed of July at the prestigious Fraser Suites in the Central Districts of Abuja to discuss on the inclusion of Women and People with disabilities[PWDS] in the political development of the country.
Hon. Clement Nwankwo led the members of the Nigerian Civil Society Situation Room; an Organization of many Civil Societies across the Country into the all important Summit.
The National Chairman of IPAC High Chief Peter Ameh led the over 70 Political Party leaders that graced the occasion into the fruitful dialogue.
Among Party leaders that attended were Alhaji A. Salam -National Chairman of the Labour Party, Alhaji Mohammed Shittu of APDA, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantelle of the APM, H.E. Prince Frank Ukonga of the Democratic Alternative Party, Bar. Georgina Dakpokpo of the YDP, Bar Godson Okoye of the UDP, Comrade Agbo Major of the NNPP, Yusuf Ibrahim of the SNP, Hon Razak Eyiowuawi of the PPN, Comrade Ademola Babatunde of the NCMP, Prof. Peter Nwangwu of the WTPN, CNP Nat. Chairman Alhaji Usman Ikeleji and many others.
The revised Political Parties Code of Conduct was received from the Committee Chairman Dr. Emeka Okengwu, that handled the process of updating the Code of Conduct and all the items were reviewed critically addressed to have inputs from members Civil Societies Situation Room as well as provide adequate inclusion of Women and PWDS in the democratic process to meet the international Standard practice.
A lecture was delivered by Professor Remi Shonaiya of the University of Ife on the topic- "Internal Democracy,Governance and Inclusivity" followed by an interactive session.
