The Chairman of the Edo SDP His Excellency Prince Frank
Ukonga has called on the striking University lecturers under the banner of ASUU
to apply the methods of constrictive engagements and peaceful stratagems of conflicts
resolution to the impasse between the FG and the aggrieved Union.
He said that there is no country in the world that has everything
going smoothly like paradise at any time in human history but then it is the
applications of wisdom, understanding, patience and tact that eventually
resolve conflicts that brings progress and prosperity, stressing that the ASUU strike
and all others should consider the general masses of Nigeria and come to a
workable realistic agreement with the government. Even recently many state governors
are crying out about the teething problems of accessing developmental finances
which is a global issue due to world economic recession and it is time we cut
the coat according to the size of the cloth available and come to a reasonable
workable solution by comprehending and understanding their principal and what
it can offer to the demands as it is a continuous process of Nation building
and all demands cannot be achieved in one swoop.
By the applications of dialectics and historical approach to
conflicts resolution it is expected that the resolution should come out with a
win – win strategy of give and take, patience and understanding.. And most especially
the issue of grounding the nations Higher educational pursuit would not be adjudged
as teleological and rectitude in the pursuit of a rectitude course.. It would
be contradictory to intelligence, dialectics and historical materialism and
would also be untenable to any sound council of elders of any religion of transcendental
idealism, whence it is strongly advised that the striking lecturers go back to
their lecture classrooms & status quo anti bellum and from their continue their
peaceful agitations which would endear public sympathy to their understandings
and maturity,
Long Live Edo State of Nigeria; Long Live Federal Republic
of Nigeria.
