Ubong Usoro: Global Tv: Good Evening sir,you were a Presidential Candidate in the 2019 Elections, what's your take on the perfomance of the Opppsition in the 2025 Bye Elections of 16th August? Dr. Frank Ukonga: Thank you for this opportunity to reach the electorate and the world through your great media. The 2025 Bye Elections was fair but the Opposition Parties were ill prepared as most had internal management crisis and could not put their act together to make a remarkable difference. Global TV: As a former Presidential Candidate what's your opinion on the use of money to induce voters during elections? Dr. Frank Ukonga: It is true that lots of money is used by some candidates to persuade voters to vote in their favour, but this had become more exacerbated due to poverty and hardships in the polity. Global Tv: What's the position of the Democratic Alternative (DA) on the on going Coalitions of the Opposition Parties? Dr. Frank Ukonga: The Democratic Alternative (DA) is in court with INEC on some gray areas of Access to the Ballot but as soon as this is over we Hope to make a positive impact in 2027 general elections. Global Tv: Have you gotten offers to join any of the opposition coalition? Dr. Frank Ukonga: Yes there are many offers but as soon as we get our act together after the court issues we shall hold a NEC meeting as well as a convention to decide on next action to pursue towards making a big impact in 2027 general election. Global Tv: What's your takes on the Petroleum Subsidy Removal and the floating of the Naira? Dr.Frank Ukonga: The Subsidy removals had been an on going debate rigth from the military era of the 90's and each successive govt had increased prices of petroleum products but the complete removals of subsidies had a hard impact on the polity pushing many to poverty and same goes for the floating of the Exchange rates. Nontheless these drastic policies were necessary to save Nigeria from immanent collapse. Global TV: On the Issue of Tribalism in politics and employment; what's your position? Dr. Frank Ukonga: This albatross had also been a big problem with the polity since independence and was the causality of military intervention in governance of Nigeria and most Nations States of the African Continent but with the evolution of Democratic ethics we are optimistic that this phenomenon would gradually disappear as democracy matures. Global Tv: So how long do we have to wait for this democracy to grow up 20 or 30years etc? Dr. Frank Ukonga: By the Laws of Karl Marx of the law of quantitative transformation to qualitative in the aspects of dialectical and historical Materialism the change to improved the Democratic journey of emerging democracies of the world is imperative.
