ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE 2014 WS PRIZE AND CALL FOR ENTRIES
In the past, entries were invited in all the genres because Prof. Wole Soyinka whom the Prize is named after writes in all the genres. Based on the judges’ recommendation, the Board of Trustees has approved that in the future, each edition should assess only one of the genres (Prose, poetry, Drama and Essays). It has therefore been decided that the genre for the fifth edition, taking place in 2014 will be Drama due to the fact that it coincides with Prof. Wole Soyinka’s 80th birthday and since this is the genre he is well known for.

APPRECIATION AND HOPE
Even though it has not been easy administering a prize of this magnitude, especially in the harsh economic environment we operate in, we are glad we have come this far and are indeed forging ahead due to the support and confidence of our very distinguished sponsors, you, our respected friends in the media and of course our committed workforce. We remain grateful to everyone who has helped us in one way or the other and we trust that we will continue to have your cooperation to enable us consistently meet the aims of this prestigious Pan-African prize.

Re:The invitation of SDP Chairman,Edo state His Excellency Prince Frank Onaivi Ukonga to the Ajaokuta Conference on Iron and steel/power industry in Nigeria on the 28th of August 2013
The SDP  Edo state appreciate your invitation of its Chairman His Excellency Prince Frank onaivi Ukonga  to the conference on Ajaokuta to discuss the issues of how to resuscitate the Ajaokuta iron and steel plant which is the biggest in the developing world as well as could create more than 2million jobs and raise Nigerian GDP to over 45 % at completion and full capacity utilization. It could also become the power and industrial headquarter of Nigeria and the entire west Africa by its location in the Niger / Benue confluence just like the Rhor Westphalia industrial belt of  Germany , the Volga river industrial belt of Russia, the Great lakes st Lawrence sea way industrial belt OF US/Canada,, the Hudson river industrial belt etc...God has blessed Nigeria with this same condition as it had given to other Nations, but we need to put our heads together and seek for a general language of communication among our various ethnic nationalism which is the remote causality of the underdevelopment of the Nigerian Polity.
The Chairman SDP Edo H.E Frank Ukonga supports your conference as rightly guided and will endeavor to be in attendance .
He also commend the efforts of the organizers and above all advice the federal government to give some attention to the Ajaokuta steel industry
Long live  Edo State, long live the Nigerian Federation

Igbo demands N500billion; Edo youth/Frank Ukonga demand N50Billion from Gov Fashola:The case of Igbo deportation from lagos state, victimization of Frank Ukonga by demolishing his biz and the sealing of Dr Orjo Uzor Kalu's House takes a new twist::Igbos demands 500billion Naira Reparations from Lagos state of Gov Raji Fashola, while Edo youth demand N50 billion Naira compensation for His Excellency Prince Frank Ukonga over the demolitions of his biz by Gov Fashola.
The entire igbo community in Nigeria are not happy by the deportation of the peoples of ndigbo extraction from lagos to Anmbra state under the bridge to be exact 75 Nidigbo indegine were deported from lagos recently but Governor Faahola hasdeported more than than 9000 Nigerians from lagos state. The Igbo Union ENRI based in enugu are asking for compendsation of N500 billion for the deported Igbo peoples

In a statement signed by the National President of the body, Barrister Joni Icheka; Secretary, Mr. Uche Nwegbo and Treasurer, Barrister Emma Nwodo, ESRI maintained that the deportation negates sections 21 (1), 22 (1) and 15 (3) of the Constitution.
They also condemned the Lagos state government for sealing off the property of the former Abia State Governor, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu and frowned at the statements credited to the former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, saying such statements were capable of bringing about ethnic hatred and a breakdown of law and order.
“ESRI therefore, demands an immediate payment of the sum of N500 billion compensation to these ill-treated Nigerians, whom the Lagos state government said were Ndi Anambra.
“Apart from paying them the compensation, the state government should also immediately provide them with befitting housing accommodation and publicly apologize for denigrating their personal liberty and smearing the sanctity of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“If the Lagos State Government and their Governor fails to do these things within one month, we will be left with no option than to conclude that it was done with clear negative mind-set and vendetta and we would be left with no option than to take appropriate legal action,” the statement said.
while The Edo progressive Youth Youth Forum leader Mr Saiki Oyana are asking for N50 Bllion compensation for Prince Frank Onaivi ukonga's biziness that was crushed by governor Fashola of Lagos statre becouse the ameable prince criticized him over the overall policy thrust of renderin many peioples homeless by his demolitions, the next thing was that Prince Frank Ukonga became the next victim of Gov Fashola's victimization of those that criticiz him posotively.
Similarly the Igbo group based in Enugu are also seeking apology and compensation for Chief Oji Kalu whose house was sealed by gove Fashola over poasitrive criticism of depoting the Igbos in Lagos styate which is illegal as this is contrary to the Nigerian constitution.
Both the Igbo group and His Excellency might  have no other alternative but to seek redress in court if Governor Fashola does not compensate them.

Fashola  Crush Frank Ukonga's Biz in Ikeja, Seals Orji Kalu's House in Ikoyi Over Positive Criticism:Lagos Politics of intolerance & Self Destruct: Focus on deportation of over 9000 Nigerians from Lagos State.
H.E. Governor Raji Fashola of Lagos state of Nigeria is at it again. He recently sealed the House of His Excellency Dr Orji Uzor Kalu in Ikoyi Lagos over positive criticism about the d
eportation of 75 Ndigbo Indigene resident in Lagos state to Onitcha under the Upper Ewaka Bridge.

H.E. Governor Raji Fashola of Lagos state of Nigeria is at it again. He recently sealed the House of His Excellency Dr Orji Uzor Kalu in Ikoyi Lagos over positive criticism about the deportation of 75 Ndigbo Indigene resident in Lagos state to Onitcha under the Upper Ewaka Bridge. You can imagine this.
Similarly His Excellency Prince Frank Onaivi Ukonga the Chairman and governorship Candidate of SDP in Edo state in the 2012 polls was one of the first to be crushed by Governor Raji Fashola of Lagos state. The celebrated feud between Gov Fashola and  His Excellency Frank Ukonga began in 2007 /2008 when after governor Fashola took over from Asiwaju Bola Tinubu , His Excellency Prince Frank Ukonga criticize his overall policy thrust of the governance of Lagos state at AIT Television and was broadcasted live to the entire world. Prince Frank Ukonga chided governor Fashola over the demolition of Oshodi market. Tejuosho Market, Mosafejo Market,Cairo Market, Agege Market etc and many other markets  which was putting hardship on many hard working residents of Lagos state .
His Excellency Orji Uzor Kalu former Governor of Abia State

And to crown it all governor Fashola was not providing any alternatives to the millions of Nigerians that his policy thrust was rendering homeless and unemployed. Prince Frank Ukonga offered to assist Lagos state to generate electricity to the National grit and that, that should be the first priority of any Lagos state governor as Lagos state consume more than 70 % of total energy generated in Nigeria.
Later Nigerian companies staerted checking out of Nigeria to Ghana to set up production plants becouse of this electricity issue.
Instead of listening to His Excellency Prince Frank Ukonga, governor Fashola decided to crush all the business of His excellency Prince Frank Ukonga situated at Ashade Market Extension in Ikeja. So the people of the environment division of Lagos State government came to serve him the papers that the block of shops legitimately purchased from the Ikeja Local Government would be crushed out of reasons best known to the governor. Prince Ukonga went straight to Alausa Office of the governor to appeal against the demolition and was told that the governor was not on seat but that they would plead on his behalf .On the D- Day governor Fashola rolled out the bulldozers and crushed all the livelihood of His Excellency Prince Frank Onaivi Ukonga. The companies in the group of offices includes an Ultra modern Printing Press with latest printing machines procured at millions of Naira, A Micro Finance Bank, and a construction company Inmont Limited. all belonging to Prince Frank Ukonga group ,who lost all he had worked for in his life including unpublished manuscripts of more than 10 books that could have made Prince Frank Ukonga to win perhaps a Noble award.
His Excellency Governor Raji Fashola of Lagos State

The amnesty international has also complained that this style of politics is wrong and that Gov Fashola should stop deporting Nigerians from Lagos State and that this   politics of intolerance is self disrtructive.
All the youth of Edo state appeal to Governor Fashola to compensate His Excellency Prince Frank Onaivi Ukonga and others affected by his policy thrust and all the brohahhaa.
Long Live Edo State Long Live Lagos State.
