H.E. Prince Frank Ukonga Write the Senate of the 8TH Republic on Bill to send Social Network Media users to jail for whatever reason
is another decree 4: under which d Buhari- Idiagbon govt sent many to
detention in 1983/4-
wikipedia wrote about decree 4 thus "In 1984, Buhari passed Decree Number 4, the Protection Against False Accusations Decree,[4considered by scholars as the most repressive press law ever enacted in Nigeria.[44] Section 1 of the law provided that “Any person who publishes in any form, whether written or otherwise, any message, rumour, report or statement […] which is false in any material particular or which brings or is calculated to bring the Federal Military Government or the Government of a state or public officer to ridicule or disrepute, shall be guilty of an offense under this Decree”.[45] The law further stated that offending journalists and publishers will be tried by an open military tribunal, whose ruling would be final and unappealable in any court and those found guilty would be eligible for a fine not less than 10,000 naira and a jail sentence of up to two years. Tunde Thompson and Nduka Irabor of The Guardian were among the journalists who were tried under the decree.
And you can see the similarity between decree 4 of 1984 and the Social Media network Bill of 2015- we are entering another hell of time...may God save Nigeria -it will gag human freedom and will kill democracy- it will create a monster that will lead to anarchy and totalitarian regime- D internet is a free
information highway and no Nation in d entire free world have nor can
pass such a bil-if u know how it function-websites can b hacked and used
to spread any info without d knowledge of d owner- u need to ask experts
like Bil Gates and d owners of social media b4 thinking of such a bill-
d bill u should pass is how Nigeria would own a great search engine like
google-aol- yahoo- how Nigeria will use social network Media to network and industrialize d
country just as Naranda Modi did 2weeks ago by a deal with Google to
network d entire India-this is positive thinking, positive leadership-wt avant-garde that will lead to greatness 4 India- this is d
role model to emulate- the court exist to seek redress in cases of slander- Remember that truth
and falsehood duality qualities according to Emmanuel Kant- to prove a logic of philosophical truth or falsehood is always and will always be a great challenge in the aspects of images of image-less thoughts - as there are some seemingly falsehood that leads the way to unravel the truth called agents provocateur in journalism
Furthermore it would be practicaly impossible to track down the source of many such tweets as it is possible to open a social media network account with false names , data and in less than tern munites send sedicious material out in using a public cyber cafe.. how then do you track down such a user...
Aside an America or Briton opr Russoian or canadian not resident in Nigeria or any where in the world can tweet insultsa and sedicious meterials on the net through any of the social network media- How do you track such down for prosecution in Nigeria- maybe you would go and arrest the person in say Russia or canada or United state or Britian or togo and drag him to Nigeria to come and face a two years or more jail term.
