H.E.Prince Frank Ukonga Explodes @ IPAC First Annual conference said; Lack of Government Funding of Political Parties Endanger Intra- Party Democracy:
His Excellency Prince Frank Ukonga the IPAC Chairman of Edo state and the south south region said that lack of funding of political parties by the government is responsible for the current do or die syndrome in politics and this would be ameliorated if the federal government resumes the funding of political parties. He made this known at the IPAC Annual conference of all chairmen of political parties in Nigeria chaired by the Vice President of Nigeria H.E. Yemi Osinbanjo with Senator Bukola Saraki and other top dignitaries of the Nigerian federation in attendance.
Furthermore Prince Frank Ukonga said; It would also reduce corruption as the need to divert public funds to finance election would be atrophied and this would accelerate the growth and sustainability of genuine democracy in Nigeria.
He also said that Edo state 2016 governorship polls would be free, far, credible and conclusive as IPAC Edo state chapter is working hand in hand with the relevant security brass in the state, INEC, and all stakeholders to ensure that all challenges that can disrupt the election is nibbled in the bud. On women participation in politics Prince frank Ukonga said that Edo state has made a new record of having most women in the governorship election in the 2016 polls in Nigeria with at least 7  women participating either as governorship candidate or as deputy governor. This represents about 25% representation of women in the Edo governorship polls edging towards the 35% UN and AU recommended and highest in Nigeria so far.
