The Keenly contested IPAC National election was held on the 21st of August 2017 at Merit House in Abuja and was attended by the chairmen of all the political parties in Nigeria-National Chairman of Accord Party (AP), Mallam Mohammadu Lawal Nalado, National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam ,Chief Joseph Avazi Nat Chairman AD- Alliance for Democracy contested the Chairmanship positions.
Mr. Garshon Benson of the Democratic Peoples Party   (DPP) and Chief Sam Eke of GPN,contested  the Deputy National Chairman position, Chief Perry Opara of the National Unity Party (NUP) and chief Okoye of UDP Contested for the position of  Secretary General.
 Elected are Aye Georgina Dakpokpo the Nat Chairperson of Young Democratic Party (YDP) as Deputy Secretary General, Dr Yakubu Shendam National Chairman of the New Generation Party of Nigeria (NGP) as Publicity Secretary, Reverend Olusegun Peters National chairman of the  Democratic Peoples Congress (DPC) as Financial Secretary and Engr Okey Chikwendu as Treasurer. 
45 of the 46 registered political parties participated in the election.
