NEW IGP MOHAMMED DIKKO ABUBAKAR |
WHAT NIGERIANS EXPECTS OF MR MOHAMMED DIKO ABUBAKAR- THE NEW INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE OF THE NIGERIAN FEDERATION-
We at Edo SDMP party welcome the new inspector general of police of the Nigerian federation into office and congratulate him on this great appointment which indeed he merited due to his record as a great cop, honest and patriotic in his dedication to the duties of security of the Nigerian state for the past 30 years. But then this is a clarion call for you to serve your fatherland in the highest honour and the following premises are of crucial importance:
1] Security of lives and properties: In general their has been a general decay in the aspects od security of lives and properties in the sovereignty and it is imperative that you quickly move to restore law and order as regards crime control, armed robberies and bring back dignity and respect to the police constituency on a national level which will impact tremendously on the police status quo on a global basis and to achieve this you need to relate with police forces of the advanced world for cooperation . etc..
2] Restive youth ; Boko Haram, Massob, OPC, Niger Delta militant; Their is the urgent need to work out new modalities that will bring peace and security to organised violence in the country caused by restive youth , redundancy and ethnic chauvinism. The need to curtail the expansionist policies of BOKO HARAM and their treat of revolution is of immediate importance.
3] Rape ; Rape cases are in the increase and this is due to same factor of insecurity. The Police need to have a quick response attitude to crime prevention.
4] Reorganisation of the Police force: Nigerians are expecting that you will bring in discipline, new vigour, new definitions into the police polity in Nigeria and the world in generality.
5] International terrorism: The new spate of bombing all over the Nigerian federation is a big embarrassment to Nigeria, Africa, and the world community, though allegedly caused by the so called Boko Haram but obviously may have sponsors in Nigeria and abroad. Their is the need to fish out all the people behind this hideous murder terror group and bring them to justice.
6] Ritualist- The rituals and ritual murder related cases are in the increase. Their will be a need to set up a special branch that will crush ritual related murder cases in Nigeria to a tolerable level
7] Corruption in the Police Force,; Their will be a need to fight corruption in the police force especially in the Case of checkpoint collections of 20 naira, bail fess of five hundred naira and above as bail is suppose to be free, other related corruption is to be fished out and crushed
8] Discipline in rank and file: Their is the urgent need for the police to reinvent itself in the aspects of standard of ethics of espiri de corps and improve the general service delivery to the electorates via high ethical standards of international standard Practice.
9]Education,Uniforms, equipments- the New Police Nigeria is expecting should be well clad, well paid, educated and battle ready. Any police officer with pot belly is expected to slim down, police are expected to be slim , tough and battle ready not fat , or flat footed, or drunk nor Indian hemp smoker.. all these set if found in the police force should be booted off.
10] RECRUITMENT OF NEW POLICE OFFICERS; Nigeria is under policed . We have less than 500,000 men to police the largest country in Africa with a population of above 250 million by UN 1963 census projections this figure of police is grossly inadequate . We need at least 1.5 million police men for the 36 states of Nigeria.
11] STATE POLICE;The new IG is expected to look into the issue of state police with a view to working with the other relevant arms of government to accelerate the formation of state policing in the Nigerian federation alongside with the federal policing in a symbiosis of collegating of mutually intersecting and complimenting abellian phenomenologies,,,
we wish you Mr Mohammed Diko Abubakar the best of times and success in your new dispensation as the Inspector General of Police of the Nigerian Federastion
