ANALYSIS OF THE OBASANJO [OBJ], JONATHAN [GEJ] FEUD & ITS IMPACT ON
SUB-SAHARAN POLITY: A DIALECTICAL & HISTORICAL MATERIALIST PERSPECTIVE- BY
PRINCE FRANK UKONGA-PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANT OF NIGERIA 2015
|
H.E.President Goodluck Jonathan and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. |
*President Obasanjo wasted the sum of 16
billion dollars on electricity /power sector without anything to show for it.
The feud between President Goodluck Jonathan and his
sponsors to power led by former President Obasanjo has its scientific, historical
and dialectical explanation in the affairs of political philosophy. Many
peoples of mundane predisposition may have obnoxiously ascribed the methods of
the President Goodluck Jonathan in distancing himself from the regime of OBJ as
one who is seen as biting the fingers that once fed him, which are aphorism of
self pity and mundane sentimentality; but in political philosophy the
explanation is different.
NOTE; My name is
Prince Frank Onaivi Ukonga-I am not President Jonathan’s Spokesman nor in his
cabinet nor am I his friend but I am not his enemy…President Jonathan is in PDP
, I am in SDMP. I am a rival, I am a presidential aspirant in the 2015 polls
Isha Alau.. So it is imperative for me to study on daily basis the activities
of the Nation so that I can input positively to its development with a view to
gaining wider acceptability that will aid my presidential ambition in 2015, Addressed
to edge out of power His Excellency President Goodkuck Jonathan and the PDP
while the progressives of the SDMP and Prince Frank Onaivi Ukonga will have and
advantage to win the 2015 presidential polls.
Preambles: The
President YarAdua’s silent Revolution: In the first place President
Goodluck Jonathan was the Vice President to His Excellency President Umar Musa
Yar Adua ,who in fairness to both of them share similar intellectual dexterity
and ideological persuasion of political frontiers as Social Democrats that
borrowed the political ladder of the conservative Ruling PDP to rise to power. President
Yar Adua was a Social Democrat in the Aminu Kano fold of PRP. President
Goodluck Jonathan by his stratagems is from same mould. They are progressives
that used the PDP ladder to climb to power as prescribed by Social Democratic
for runners. It is very difficult for social democratic progressives to climb
to power on their own feeble strength.
President Yar Adua’s
Policy Thrust: The President Yar Adua’s Government began the Transformation
of Nigerian polity that was probing the regime of Obj and it was revealed to
all Nigerians in the NEPA probe that President Obasanjo wasted the sum of 16
billion dollars on electricity /power sector without anything to show for it.
The entire country and the entropy of public opinion were convinced that the
OBJ- 8 years was the most corrupt regime in the annals of Nigerian History. All
public companies, properties, landed assets and utilities belonging to all
Nigerians were sold off to OBJ’S cronies in exchange for pea nut in his bogus
privatization program. The economic theories of Soludonomics of market forces
driven economy was implemented in emergency on an economy with feet of clay.
Same with all the aspects of banking consolidation which witnessed the looting
of all Nigerian private bank treasuries through the back door of director
related borrowings and the Nigeria economy suffered and was heading for a
collapse until Prof. Soludo was booted out by President Yar Adua and Malam Sanusi
Lamido the new Governor of CBN had to reinvent the Keynesian economic theory of
prudent fiscal driven economic premises to restore back normalcy into the
economy. The director of NNPC Kupolohun had to be booted out, all the
government refineries sold to Dangote and Otedola has to be reclaimed back, the
Ajaokuta Iron and Steel plant sold to Global Resources ltd had to be repossessed
back and President Yar Adua invited the Ukrainian Government who ware the
original owner of the technology to come and complete what they started with an
agreement of creating 2 million jobs and generating 800MW of electricity from the Beregu plant
with renewed maximum interpretations of installed capacity utilization. The
entire privatization program of OBJ had to be revisited. The so called hospital
projects contracts and many other contracts awarded to OBJ cronies had to be revisited,
the Nigerian choice properties sold out both in Abuja
and other locations had to be repossessed by President Yar Adua and Nigeria was
getting back to its feet when President Yar Adua had above 70 billion dollars
in reserve. Before his sudden death President Yar Adua had finished arrangement
to take the power generation capacity of Nigeria to above 10,000 MW and the
equipments for that purpose had arrived at the port. He began an ambitious
project of transforming Nigeria in to a Super Power by his project of Tran
Saharan gas pipeline which will deliver oil and gas to Europe and Asia directly
which when completed will immediately double our GNP and make Nigeria become a
global force in the aspects of oil and gas security of the world… He began his
Atomic and nuclear projects to generate electricity and signed memorandum of understanding
with President Dmitri Medvedev of Russia to achieve this purpose…
President Yar Adua was moving Nigeria in to the BRICS fold which is today the
richest exclusive club of Nations in the entire Human Race; committed to the
Vision 2020 to take Nigeria to the top 20 economic giants class of the world by
2020 with a road map of targeted 900billion dollars GNP and generating 25000MW
of electricity by 2020 etc…It was this great transformational Agenda that President
Goodluck Jonathan inherited and was part of this agenda as the deputy man
Friday of President Yar Adua. And if you view the above analysis it was a
rightly guided policy thrust.
The Era of President
Goodluck Jonathan: President Goodluck Jonathan was a child of circumstance
that became a child of necessity and relevance. He inherited a government with
a transformational agenda, that he was part of as a Deputy but now as the Leader
of that transformation. But yet the powers that brought him to position of leadership of the new disposition are hell
bent that he must revert the hands of the transformational agenda to the old order of status quo anti bellum, which will be counter
productive and very risky to the goodwill of the transformational agenda that
brought him to power. It is like asking him to commit a political suicide.
Because the government he inherited had already decoupled
itself from the OBJ purportedly most corrupt government in the annals of
Nigerian history. Which indeed is what is recommended in all books of political
philosophy, be it Roberts Green, Machiavelli, General Sun Su, Karl Max- Das Capital,
Thomas Panes, Ricardo etc.
So the only alternative left for President Goodluck
Jonathan, if he wants to continue to enjoy the goodwill is to continue a
moderate transformational agenda; which was exactly what he did. Trying to pacify frail nerves of the powers
that be, while tenaciously continuing the transformational agenda.
President Jonathan’s
First Term as elected President; President Goodluck Jonathan contested and
won the election in 2011 to herald his own entry legitimately as an elected
President. But still the nagging question still hover around his neck like the
sword of Damocles; what should be done: To revert to the past corrupt methods
or to continue the transformational course which warms him to the electorate
and maintains his goodwill ratings? The answer to this question is obvious even
to the mundane.
There is no way he can revert to the OBJ order of doing
things. This is both in his own interest, in the interest of other stakeholders
in the Nigeria
project as well an in the interest of OBJ. But then the forces that brought him
to power had to some short change the so called federal character where the
South West was seemingly short changed in the schemes of things as regards key
positioning in the system and this he has been trying assiduously to compensate
for.
President Jonathans’ Dilemma:
In political philosophy the problem facing President Goodluck Jonathan is
described by Karl Marx as the Theory of Negation of the Negation which in the
lay man’s terms is called the theory of the laws of spiral spring evinced by
would be Transformers and Revolutionaries- This theory of dialectical materialism
holds that a would be Transformer/Revolutionary would necessarily be a member
of the Ruling cabal that will emerge as a consequence of the contradictions of
capitalism leading to an implosion and disagreement among the ruling elite.
This new transformer/Revolutionary will emerge after the feud and will lead the
people to freedom. And the on going feud among the Ruling class will eventually
lead to the implosion of that class.
Theories of Franz Fanon & Antonio Gramsci: The renowned intelligentsias
of Martinique Frank Fanon and Antonio Gramsci as well as Che Guvera the great revolutionary
of Bolivia
interpreting the revolutionary theories of Karl Max to the third world setting
had postulated that the poor Masses cannot liberate themselves from the bondage
of the Ruling class on their own. Their liberation will only come due to the
contradictions in the Ruling class and its subsequent implosion, to produce a
member of that class who will transform in his ways and lead the masses out of
the bondage. And it has started. The Oil subsidy issue is one of the bondage
holding Nigeria
and the masses down while the cabals were milking it. President Jonathan is set
to resolve that issue in favor of the masses. He has removed the first stage of
the subsidy and soon will remove the second stage and free the economy and the
masses from the bondage of the dangerously calculating cabals.
Power, Steel, Oil
& Gas Policy Thrust: President Jonathan insist on the continuation of the
Ajaokuta Steel project which is not favorable to the cabals and their Western
sponsors that want to keep Nigeria underdeveloped at all cost by what ever
means possible-Any Nation that cannot generate its liquid steel can never
become developed- just yesterday a new Managing Director has been appointed and
the Ukrainians are back to continue the project that will empower Nigerians and
create at least 3 million jobs in its down stream sector. The sold refineries
have been reclaimed back and President Jonathan is building 5 more refineries
in the Greenfield
projects and fuel importation will soon be a thing of the past. He has broken
the cement and building material production monopoly and prices of cement and
building material as well as essential commodities will soon crash.. if not
already crashing…He has been able to generate 5000MW of electricity as at
today.
He is empowering the Civil Defense Corps to guide the
pipelines and the coastlines as against vandalization and petroleum product
bunkering and soon it will begin to have effect on the national economy and
with that in place he will begin the Trans Saharan Oil and gas pipelines to
supply our gas and oil to Europe and Asia that will double our GNP to above 600
billion and gradually make the targeted 900billion of President Yar Adua by
2020.
Each state has been empowered to look inwards to generate developmental
finance of IGR, rather than wait for monthly allocations as usual and the
response is good as the State Governors have become more active in resource generation
and mobilization…
NOTE; I am not
President Jonathan’s Spokesman nor in his cabinet nor am I his friend but I am
not his enemy…President Jonathan is in PDP , I am in SDMP, I am a rival and
contender, I am a presidential aspirant in the 2015 polls Isha Alau.. So it is
imperative for me to study on daily basis the activities of the Nation so that
I can input positively to its development with a view to gaining wider
acceptability that will aid my presidential ambition in 2015. , Addressed to
edge out of power His Excellency President Goodkuck Jonathan and the PDP while
the progressives of the SDMP and Prince Frank Onaivi Ukonga will have and
advantage to win the 2015 presidential polls.
The Problems of the 7th
Republic of President Goodluck Jonathan: Most of the problems the 7th
Republic are facing were not caused by the young government, but are
reactionary backlash of the OBJ mundane recklessness in power for the 8 years
of mundane adventure as Nigeria Leader.
The 7th Republic inherited the problems
of falling educational standards, the problems of acute unemployment, the
problems of endemic poverty and youth restiveness , decaying infrastructures,
bad health delivery system, hunger, insecurity, inadequate housing, epileptic electricity,
comatose industries, and a collapsing seething economy from its predecessors
and are saddled with the responsibility of solving these problems.
The Theory of
Dialectics: Reason should prevail that the 7th Republic be given
a breathing space to be able to concentrate on service delivery and the
transformational agenda to repair the damaged polity. But since the 100 years
of the creation of the State of Nigeria by His Excellency Lord Lugard , never
had there been a government that had faced such levels of persecution,
criticism and animosity, terrorism and other strange negative vices as that of
the President Goodluck Jonathan’s Government of the 7th Republic.
Yet he kept to a high level tolerance of subtlety, patience, understanding,
listening and ready to cooperate with rightly guided colleagues and opposition
alike who could come up with genuine propositions to move the Nation out of the
woods.
The Minority/
Majority Issue: We must realize that this is the first time in Nigeria History
that the South South zone is producing a president and that zone has and is
contributing immensely if not move than 80% of our GNP of Oil export based
economy. So far President Jonathan had only been in power for 3 years in May
2013. We as a people should be magnanimous enough to give that zone a chance as
well. Other Regions have ruled for upwards of 14 years while some have ruled
above 30 years of our history. If we are truly committed to truth, justice and
fair play then dialectics will suffice that we should make a great use of the
emergence of President Jonathan to bringing the Nation into brotherhood by
embracing and cooperating with him to transform the country to higher standards
of rectitude, bringing the minorities of Ijaw, Ebira,Edo, etal into a closer
relations of having a sense of belonging. If the majority tribes continue to
behave with impetuosity and intolerance of minority heading the country then
will the minority not be alienated and want to opt out of the union? If the
South South Oil is good for us all and beneficial why are their sons not good
enough to be President?.
Conclusion: We
have no other Nation to call our own but Nigeria. This is a clarion call to
all Nigerians to stop the madness of violence, terrorism, kidnapping, sabotage,
vidalization of government properties and all vices that could lead to the
brake up of the country. We are also appealing to all the stake holders in the Nigeria
project to quickly come together and find solutions to all the aforementioned
problems.
NOTE;I am not
President Jonathan’s Spokesman nor in his cabinet nor am I his friend but I am
not his enemy, President Jonathan is in PDP, I am in SDMP, I am a rival and
contender, I am a presidential aspirant in the 2015 polls Isha Alau.. So it is
