INTRODUCTION: I commend the organizers of
this summit for their proactive initiative to call the attention of the Nigerians
and the world in generality to the rising phenomenon of rape cases and obtuse
violence and discrimination against women in Nigeria and the entire globe.
More so we appreciate your invitation to
the SDMP- represented by its Edo State Chairman Prince Frank Ukonga as special
guest of honor and guests speaker on this great occasion. And that you have appreciated
me and my party to be yoked among the sages who normally should speak on such
occasions your Union and organization shall continue to be yoked among the best
there be in the affairs of men of subsequent creation. Amen.
TOPIC: Rape and violence against women have
grown in to a frightening proportion that it demands urgent attention on a global
basis. Just a few month ago the daughter of a Nigerian Major General Cynthia
was invited from her university to Lagos by a young lad who was her face book acquaintance
drugged her and gang raped her with his friends and later murdered her in cold
blood. This is indeed satanic. In another case an Onitsha based truck driver
tied up his wife who had 3 kids for him, after beating her to pulp set her ablaze
with petrol and fire. In another development, a guy camped his girlfriend for
one week raping her and after beheaded her and took to his heels. In another
case two guys last year in Edo state camped a girl for two weeks in a dungeon
raping her to death and later buried her in a shallow grave… In India the
celebrated case of Rape last month where a gang of four raped a girl had
finally secured justice by the hanging of the culprits….In Europe a guy
kidnapped a girl and tattooed the word SLAVE on her fore head and kept her in a
dungeons for months raping and violating her until the law caught up with him….
In some villages in Nigeria it has become fashionable for young lads to rape
old women…it is all in the news on daily basis and the case is alarming.
INCEST: The case of incest is also on the
rise where fathers rape and violate their biological daughters, and female
relations... in a celebrated case in Lagos a man divorced his wife but kept the
only daughter of the marriage on the pretence of training her until he began to
rape her on daily basis. The girl became pregnant and was later discovered by
her teachers the biological father was responsible for the pregnancy… In the
United States a mother was sent to jail for luring her biological son to make
love to her in a rented hotel room.
PEDOPHILES: In some cases it is the underage
girls below the age of 10 that captures the imaginations of some hideous men. A
guy of 45 was caught raping a child of 6 years old recently and the cases of
men raping under aged girls are rampant on a global basis.
UNDUE VIOLATION: Blackberry stealing and other
sundry offences: In Abuja recently a girl was stripped naked and violated by a
mob of crowd for stealing blackberry phone. In Enugu, Benin and Imo state
higher institutions cases of girls’ being stripped naked and violated for
sundry offences in schools have been reported and such obscene picture awash
the internet…
FEMALE TRAFFICKING AND FORCED PROSTITUTION:
In Europe and some African countries and
even in the Middle East Nigerian Girls are being forced into prostitutions
having being lured into the female trafficking trade by obnoxious sponsors who
promise them good jobs abroad only to be trapped into prostitution when they
get to their destinations by their sponsors. In Mali gold and Uranium mines it
is alleged that an alarming 400,000 Nigerian girls are trapped in shanty make
shift tents providing cheap sex to mine workers. Most of them were deceived
into this trade by hideous sponsors and on further investigation it one of the
girls confessed to entrapment in the Mali sex slavery and that she had sex with
at least 30 clients on daily basis… same is withy Bukina Faso, Niger, Ghana,
Togo and many African and European countries were Nigeria girls at their prime
are enslaved by sponsors to provide sex services to clients violating the very
basis and essence of womanhood. Italy, Germany, France and Brussels are most
noted to be the countries were a large majority of Nigerian girls are trapped
in such illicit sex trade and violation of their womanhood by obnoxious
sponsors.
ACID BATH AND FEMALE MUTILATION AND KILLING:
Their have been reported cases of jealous lovers killing or deforming women for
alleged personal grievances which are all against the laws of the federal
Republic of Nigeria.
WIFE BEATING AND BATTERING: Some male folks
engage on daily basis in the culture of intolerance and self restrain and
discipline by engaging in beating and turning their spouse into a punching bag
and deforming them and making life miserable and hell for them. This is inhuman
and unacceptable to all men of goodwill and the gods on universal basis.
ICONOCLASTIC DOGMAS: Lots of women, house
helps old ages women are killed or beaten, violated and mutilated for being
accused of witchcraft. This has taken alarming proportions in recent times of
dwindling fortunes of Men on a global basis.
RITUALS, CULTISM AND OTHERS: There is
alleged a high level of killing and violation of women in rituals and occultist
practices that are in need of female parts and blood for rituals. Cases of this
also abount everywhere in Nigeria… A celebrated case was the one that happened
in Ogun state in Ifor town, A fiend invited the wife of his friend to come and
assist in a masonry brick layer job to fetch waters for the workers ,but as the
woman arrives in the uncompleted building in the morning she met another shock…
she was seized by force and gang raped by six men and they later killed her and
took her head away in a sack to give a ritualist who promised to use the head
in a money making ritual of get rich quick for the men.. But unfortunately the
hands of the law caught up with these hideous satanic men…
Solutions to these problems:
1) CULTURE OF VIGILANCE: Women, girls and the
entire society need to cultivate the spirit of eternal vigilance. We should
watch over each other addressed to report any funny movement or suspected
danger to the police for immediate intervention and rescue.
2) UPBRINGING OF GIRLS AND MID SET: Not all
things that glitter is gold. Parent should devote timer to bring up children to
the conduct of good behavior and this should concern both male and female
upbringing so that they would grow up to follow the path of honor rather than
the path of disgrace, ruin and grief.
3) GREED AND MATERIALISM: It must be
emphasized that lots of women have sold their minds to ostentatious living,
greed and materialism. And this is another important factor that is aiding the
nefarious activities of satanic predators to cash in on the lowly virtues of
some girls and ladies who are easily carried away by expensive cars, looks,
cash etc.. And later they begin to regret for the rest of their lives for
falling a pray.
4) WOMEN EMPOWERMENT: The situation in the
country ware more than 70 % of the Nigerian Population is unemployed is
unacceptable to the peoples of Nigeria and to us at SDMP. This is also one of
the causes of temptations and vulnerability among women to falling as preys to
ludicrous hideous suitors. The Nigerian government and State Governments should
do more on empowering women and youth so that they will not be tempted to go
astray as an idle mind is a devils workshop.
5) POSITIVE QUALITATIVE EDUCATION:
Observations has proved that positive qualitative education is a solution to
uplifting the cultura anime of the society addressed to upscale the ethics of
citizens of the society.
6) REHABILITATION PROGRAM FOR VICTIMS OF ABUSE:
There is an urgent need to rehabilitate affected people of violence and rape so
as to assist in re integrating them back to the society.
7) LEGISLATIONS AGAINST WOMEN TRAFFICKING,
RAPE AND VIOLATION: We need very strong laws as punitive measures to stop the
cases of rape, violence and violation against women in the society. This is act
as a deterrence to stop those who want to engage in this shameful act.
8) PROMOTING OF AFRICAN CULTURE AND VALUES:
The need to promote the ideals of African superlative culture and aesthetic
which frowns on abuse of women and preach upright behavior of citizens should
also be encouraged as most of this decadent ways of Rape and violence were
alien to African and brought into being through
slavery, colonization and imperialism that basterdize African
institutions. It is time to rebuild and Africanize all our institutions.
9) OUR PREROGATIVES AT SDMP: The government of
SDMP when voted to power is determined to pursue a policy trust of protecting
youths and women from violence, rape, discrimination and violation through proactive
legislation.

OUR PREROGATIVES @ SDMP
The Honorable Commissioner of Police Edo state, the Representative
of the INEC Edo State, the Representative of the Director of SSS Edo state, the
Representative of Edsiec Edo State, the Representative of the National Chairman
of SDMP Chief Olu falae, SDMP members -Edo state, the Nigerian polity and all
protocols observed.
This is another milestone in the development of Democracy in
Edo State as we elect our state EXCO. I am highly elated as SDMP members of Edo
state have elected me as the Chairman of the Party in Edo state addressed to
rejig the Party to contributing its quota to the development of Edo state and
the Nigerian Polity in generality.
Our prerogatives at SDMP is a resolute determination to
build a formidable Political structure in Edo State and in Nigeria that is
committed to making a difference in the delivery of dividends of democracy to
the teaming masses of the Nigerian Federation as a sin qua non of shape of future
of Sub Saharan Africa.
In this context SDMP as a party with Social Democratic
ideology is determined to pursue resolutely the ideals of Social democracy
which is the political philosophy of the central left committed to the
accelerated wellbeing of the majority of peoples in Nigeria and on a global
basis.
We hold adamantine the tenets of freedom of speech, freedom
of association and the equality of all human beings and their inalienable
rights to quality education, housing for all, jobs for all, industrial and
economic revolution, health for all, electricity for all etc. as noble ideals
of pursuit that will take Edo state and Nigeria to the attainment of a better
egalitarian society and we are determined to pursue these objectives.
Political Parties are organizations set up to contest
elections and form governments with a focused manifesto to address the problems
of the society and jockey it to loftier standards of living; but this cannot be
achieved in isolation. Whence, we solicit the supports of all members of SDMP,
all the citizens of Edo State and Nigeria to embrace the SDMP as a house hold Party
presently and to give the Party opportunity to achieve great ideals for Edo state. This should
translate to soliciting for more members of SDMP as well as voting into power
the government of SDMP in this forth coming Local Government Polls in Edo state
April 2013, the 2015 general elections and in all subsequent polls.
Our word is our bond with the Edo polity and we promise not
to let you down. When voted to power we promise to deliver good roads, jobs for
all through accelerated industrial and economic revolution, Agricultural
revolution to provide food for all, 24/7 uninterrupted power supply, security
of lives and properties in Edo state, functional education policy thrust and
novel methods of human resource development, empowerment of youth and women,
development of sports, guaranteeing portable water supply, good hospitals and maternity
care, care for the aged and much more.
Once more I thank all the people of Edo state that has
turned out enmass at the SDMP Congress and we promise to do our very best to
take Edo State and Nigeria to the Promised Land of greatness.

The newly elected chairman of the Edo state SDMP Prince Frank Ukonga on behalf of the entire members of SDMP and on the behalf of the Chairman of SDMP Chief Olu Falae commends the spectacular victory of the Nigerian Soccer stars the Super Eagles for winning the gold Cup in the African cup of Nations tournament which had eluded Nigeria for the past 19 years despite all tenacious attempts to win the cup. This is the signs of the great shape of the future to come and we admonish all Nigerians to roll up our sleeves and begin to work hard emulating the spirit of the Victorious Eagles to rejig the Nigerian Federation.

Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Wednesday that Adolf Hitler's rise to power 80 years ago should go on reminding Germans that democracy and freedom cannot be taken for granted.
Mrs Merkel was speaking at the inauguration of an exhibition in Berlin to
commemorate eight decades since Hitler became chancellor on January 30, 1933
- an anniversary which has aroused much interest in Germany.
"Human rights don't assert themselves. Freedom doesn't preserve itself
all alone and democracy doesn't succeed by itself," Mrs Merkel said.
"That must be a constant warning for us, Germans," she added
referring to Hitler's arrival at the chancellery.
The exhibition, "Berlin 1933. On the Path to Dictatorship", is on a site charged with history as the former headquarters of the Gestapo, the secret police of the Nazi regime.
It now houses The Topography of Terror, an open-air documentation centre whose exhibition traces Hitler's first months in power through photos, newspapers and posters.
Mrs Merkel noted that it only took six months for the dictator to "wipe out all the diversity" of German society.
But she also underscored that a large part of society had supported "or at least acquiesced" to Hitler's regime.
In a black-and-white photo, visitors to the exhibition can make out the Fuehrer saluting the crowd from the chancellery window on the evening of January 30, 1933, after earlier having been made chancellor and been charged by president Paul von Hindenburg with forming a new government.
"The hour has come! We are at Wilhelmstrasse (the site of the chancellery at the time). Hitler is chancellor of the Reich. Like in a fairytale," wrote Joseph Goebbels, who was to become Nazi propaganda chief, in his diary on January 31, 1933.
Posters go on to show images of the Reichstag going up in flames the following month and then the first measures taken against the Jews on April 1, with the start of a boycott of Jewish shops, doctors and lawyers.
"Germans, defend yourselves! Don't buy from Jews," a poster states.
Andreas Nachama, director of The Topography of Terror, said the arrival of the failed painter from Austria at the helm of power in Germany was an "incision" in history, although nobody at the time thought he would last.
However the parliamentary system of the Weimar Republic failed to find a stable majority and Hitler, on the back of over-simplified themes, rallied millions of unemployed and people who had lost everything in the economic crisis.
According to Mr Nachama, the exhibition shows the "daily erosion of democratic institutions" as the Nazi regime began to build up steam, eventually leading to World War II and the deaths of 40 to 60 million people, including six million Jews.
The 80th anniversary has sparked much interest in Germany, with a novel that imagines Hitler's return to modern-day Berlin entitled "He's Back" (Er Ist Wieder Da) becoming a bestseller here.
Another two exhibitions are also due to open - one on Berlin and the Nazis at the German Historical Museum and the other offering a thematic tour of Berlin's symbolic sites from the Third Reich.
Just ahead of the anniversary, Mrs Merkel said in her weekly podcast that Germany had "an everlasting responsibility for the crimes of National Socialism, for the victims of World War II, and above all, for the Holocaust".
"We're facing our history, we're not hiding anything, we're not
repressing anything. We must confront this to make sure we are a good and
trustworthy partner in the future, as we already are today, thankfully,"
