INEC called a stakeholders meeting on the 18th of May 2012 to warn all the contestants in the Edo 2012 elections on the need to play by the rules. In attendance are all the governorship candidates of the seven political parties contesting the election of July 2012. Among are H.E Adams Oshiomole of ACN, H.E.Charles Airhiabvere OF PDP, H.E. Prince Frank Ukonga of SDMP NOW SDP, H .E Solomon Edebiri of ANPP, and candidates of CPC, NCP were all present life in a widely televised and published no hold barred meeting to resolve the violence and accusations and counter accusations about the forth coming Edo 2012 polls.

Prof. Atahiru Jega was emphatic and putting his foot down calling for a final truss and that he will no more tolerate any nonsense from Edo contestants or may council the elections. The ccv capture of upgrading the voters register was postponed till after the election by a unanimous agreement by all the contestants. The chairmen and Secretaries of political parties and stakeholders were also present in the meeting but the press was not allowed into the meeting venue in Abuja, INEC head quarters.In his contribution Gov Oshiomole insisted on the one man one vote philosophy which was supported by Chief Tony Mommoh - chairman of CPC, and supported by Alhaji Funtua the Assistant National Chairman of SDMP representing chief Olu Falae, and also Barrister Femi FALANA SUPPORTED THIS GREAT IDEA.The SDMP candidate in the election Prince Frank Ukonga spoke on the issue of posters vandalization, huge cost and monitization of elections in Nigeria and the entire hall supported his views which Prof. Jega promised to look into how to evolve a new modus operandi where excessive use of cash to induce voters are reduced to tolerable level.. election should be a cross breading and cross pollination of ideas, manifestos etc and not in a cash and carry bazaar of voters. All attendant later shook hands and agreed to work together to move Nigeria forward as well as take Edo state to the promised land
