H.E. Adams Oshiomhole National Chairman of APC with H.E. Prince Frank Ukonga- National Chairman of DA Democratic Alternative Party |
Breaking News: Edo Governorship Race 2020: The Three Horse Race between the APC, DA and PDP.
1] THE Race is between H.E. Adams Oshiomhole National Chairman of APC, H.E. Prince Frank Ukonga National Chairman of DA-Democratic Alternative Party and H.E. Ize Iyamu of the PDP:
2. Feeler are that H.E. Adams Oshiomhole may crown Idahagbon or Ogiewonyi or Odubu close political associates of his or maybe bow to the pressure to field H.E. Obaseki the incumbent governor for a second term...but the grapevine are saying that the relationship between them is frosty and that the godfather of Edo politics and the National Chairman of APC may be thinking of the Lagos Option, where Ambode the incumbent governor lost to Sanwolu.
3.DA National Chairman H.E. Prince Frank Ukonga recently in Abuja opened discussions with Major General Charles Airhiavbere - a strong governorship contender ,with a view to fielding the erudite Major General under the coalition of 50 political parties as a consensus candidate- The Mega/HERO Coalition under the DA governorship ticket if he does not grab the APC Ticket in the primaries....
4.The PDP-H.E. Ize Iyamu Factor/Interest; Pastor Ize Iyamu is a strong factor in Edo and National power game of the Nigerian Federation, if he decides to run he may most likely grab the ticket of the PDP but then the PDP have opened romance with the incumbent governor H.E. Obaseki perhaps to spin a surprise if Obaseki does not grab the APC Ticket for a second term...
5.Captain Hosa factor:Rumors have it that Captain Hosa is interested in the governorship Race. If he eventually contest then the entire game plan will change...
6. The Igbinedion political machinery: The CEO of the Igbenedion political structure High Chief Gabriel Igbenedion the Esama of Benin Kingdom was seen recently visiting governor Obaseki ,if he decides to back him for a second term then the game plan will also tilt.
7. Senator Domingo factor: Senator Alaba Domingo Obende has already thrown his weight behind governor Obaseki and Philip Shaibu ticket possibly because of the Chief of Staff of Edo state Hon Akenrele who is a close confidant of Senator DD...or perhaps to emerge as the next governor in the post Obaseki power play...
8.Esan/Inegbeneki factor: Inegbeneki seems to be backing comrade Oshiomhole and would go the direction pointed by the political god father of Edo state, skimming perhaps to grab power in the post Obaseki power play where most likely the governorship ticket would rotate to Esan group.
9.Elements of Surprise: the Youth, Women and PWD Factor: H.E. Prince Frank Ukonga is the Secretary of the IPAC/UN Committee on Youth/ Women and PWD and he is likely to spin a surprise by using this lever to sway all the votes of the Youth, Women and PWD in favour of DA- as a symbol of generation shift of power to the young breed and this will be the deciding factor in the 2020 Edo governorship Race...
10. Oshiomhole's deft chess move to checkmate the fifth columnists: After the portable outing of APC in the Presidential and National Assembly elections of 2019 comrade Adams Oshiomhole quickly moved into the scene in the state Assembly election to save the party and he delivered the entire state Assembly seats to APC...This deft political move and success gives the comrade firm grip of Edo politics as in the proverbial classic of the Witch' Apprentice..whence Comrade Oshiomhole has grabbed the vantage position as in General Sun Tsu- The Art of War- that is the art of formations and he would likely decide the Obaseki and post Obaseki era of Edo state...
Conclusion:As it stands the stratagems of Comrade Oshiomhole is holding the bull by its horns but then H.E. Prince Frank Ukonga's strategy is to encamp on the flanks of the horn in the order of General Shaka Zulu's formation to move in quickly with speed and capture the crown as soon as there is a default or lacuna...
We shall keep you posted as the power game of Edo state plays out...pls stay tuned. Gratitude.
