SUNDAY NATIONAL PEOPLES NEWS:THE ROLE OF CHURCH IN A DEVELOPING ECONOMY: A CRITICAL PERSPECTIVE: CAN A NATION STATE CALL FOR SUPPORT FROM CHURCH FUNDS TO FINANCE ITS CAPITAL AND RECURRENT EXPENDITURES? SHOULD CHURCHES PAY TAXES?
The globalization of the Judeo Christian History and pattern of ethics is a great blessing to mankind and the CHURCH and SYNAGOGUES became the flag ship of that culture order.
The history of the church and synagogues dates backs to the origin of mankind and has gone through thick and thin to survive and bloom in contemporary time with general acceptability due mainly to the premises of ethical morality of love, goodwill, order addressed for mankind to be at peace with his fellow man and at concord with his creator.
Whence their role in molding, the behavioral ethics and motivation of devotees is commendable. This has become a great legacy that has boxed the Hobe’s nature of man’s carnality where life becomes brute and short to the corner albeit still growing to achieve full conquest in this context..
THE ROLE OF THE CHURCH IN THE NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF NATION STATES:
The church was very supportive to the development of many Nation States the world over in the context of governance, statehood, diplomacy, & financial support to governments and in many other ways, in its great turbulent history.
The Roman Empire that embraced the Catholic order was a Nation built around the philosophical and political system of the Bible, adulterated here and there with the doctrines of men in most instances addressed to jockey the society to acceptable standards…Church funds, offerings, tithes and contributions became very supportive in the infrastructural developments of these nations as well as in the capital, and recurrent budget expenditure of these nations.
After the Roman Empire, the Russian Orthodoxy, the Renaissance period of central Europe of Zuigily movement, John Calvin and the times of Ignatius Loyola all paid loyalties to their respective states…
Though at this juncture we need to quickly mention the Crusaders wars that were financed with church money waged by Christian Nations…
A major milestone was recorded in history, in the context of the great use of Church money to finance state budgets in the Era of King Henry, the Grand Father of Elizabeth 1 who for other reasons of search for a male hare to the throne of England Devoiced his wife ,Queen Mary the Nice of the Roman Papacy  for the inability to born him a male child, and was subsequently excommunicated by Rome.
He quickly formed the Anglican Church and mandated Lord Cranners the Archbishop of Canterbury to Nationalize all Catholic churches to the Anglican faith and got independence form Rome…This was a great mile stone in the spread of new marketable variation of same underlying reality of God worship among men and subsequently this great risk of King HENRY paid off as the Church Money was able to consolidate in the British society, rather than the est while capital flight as in church money being sent to Rome all the time.. Britain soon became capitalized and with support partly from these Church funds was able to kick start the British Industrial Revolution and today Britain is arguably the centre of Western Civilization…There are countless other examples of how great Nations looked up to the churches for funding their capital and recurrent expenditures…
ANALYSIS OFF CHURCH FUNDS IN NIGERIA:
Nigeria is a country with a per capital income estimate of above $1500.. with a GNP of above $300 billion annually and a large population of above 250 million people according to the 1963 census; so an estimate of growing number of the believers may put at an estimate of more than 100million believers in Nigeria and the tithe from these people 10% of their total earning, coupled with church offerings every Sundays, Wednesday and lots of offerings and harvests of churches, the Church institution in Nigeria has an access to colossal sums of money put at an estimate of above $80 billion annually.
And when the new systems of having foreign branches as in big churches like the Redeem group of Adeboye, Christ Embassy of Pastor Chis Oyakilome, Bishop David Oyedepo’s Church group etc, with numerous branches in more than 80 Nations of the world the capital repatriated from these Nations all goes to the head office in Nigeria.
Whence the Nigeria Church has become a great money spinning industry on a global scale and if one is not being conservative with the truth the Nigerian Churches collectively generate over 60% of the GNP of Nigeria i.e. above $200billion dollars annually. This is a colossal amount of money left to the hands of a few church leaders who unfortunately are not sensitive to the plight of the devotees paying the money in slavish reverence, as many devotees are redundant, jobless and poor, while the Church leaders globe trot round the world buying Airplanes, riding Jeeps all over the places with countless of security escorts and are living in breathtaking mansions etc.. Really living like oil sheiks….
The question is:
1] Should the Federal Government and State Governments pay deaf eyes to the cry of the devotees who are crying out for equity in shearing the dividends of the church money?
2] Should the Govt look up to the churches to cough out some of this colossal capital in their hand for National Developments of infrastructures which we all know are in bad shape…?
3] Should the government collect taxes from Churches as they also benefits from the general spending of the government in keeping the sovereignty safe, and prosperous for them to ply their trade..?
These are a few pressing questions that the States and Federal Governments has to look into with a view to come to equity in the aspect of Church money in the Nigerian State.
Whence there is the urgent need for the Federal and State Govts to invite all church leaders to a table conference and appeal to them for support in this hour of need of the Nigerian Federation.

GOV ADAMS OSHIOMHOLE
EDITORIAL: STATE GOVERNMENTS COLLAPSES IN NIGERIA: SENATE MAY MERGE SOME STATES, WHILE SOME WILL CEASE TO EXIST; DECADES OF SQUANDERING, SENSELESS LOOTING & LIVING RECKLESSLY; A FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS.
State Governments in Nigeria has crash; the Second constitutional Tier of governance of the Nigerian Sovereignty has become a great embarrassment to the peoples of Nigeria, the entire African continent and the world in generality…due mainly to decades of wanton looting of the treasuries of the state by successive governors since the independence of the Nigerian Nation state…
A giant sprawling civilization of Sub-Saharan Africa with a population estimate of 250 Million people projected from the authentic 1963 census and peopled by the Bantu stock of dark pigmented negroid typology, mixed with the Meronik peoples from the kursh civilization of the Middle Nile as in the Yoruba's, Igarra, Kanuri, Basange ….etc and a sizable percentage of the Fulani tribesmen who migrated to that part of the world after the collapse of the Fulani rule of the Mali Empire……
With this type of mixed tribal setting of more than 300 different tribes of Africans living together in a geo-political entity it became imperative to adopt a system of Federalism based on the concepts of 36 federating States under a Federal Government of presidential system and another third tire of government- Local Government, was added into it for reasons that the dividends of the sovereignty to trickle down to the poor dispossessed natives and those living in the rural areas..
the system is great as designed by those who drafted the constitution but those who become elected into offices are the problem of this large country as the genuine patriotic people are edged out of elective offices by the looters and mostly questionable leaders of this part of the world who rig the elections and grab power at all costs and begin to loot the nation dry in a vicious dangerously calculating cabals.
Little wonder after decades of looting more than $30 trillion dollars earned from petroleum export  resources of the Nigerian hard working peoples the state governance structure as in many of the federating states have become either distressed or in critical conditions, only four states [ Abia, anambra, akwa ibom and…. ]out of the 36 federating state are adjudged healthy with clean bill of health, all the other 34 states are either distressed  as for…[Niger state, Kano State, Katsina state…]..While a large number of the them are in critical condition category as in [ Kaduna, Edo,Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo…]and lastly a handful fall under the category of tolerable as in [Lagos State…….]
The collapse of the state structure has finally vindicated all the civil right groups and other pressure groups, including the world and Nigeria media that has been vocal against the recklessness and wanton larceny of the states by the governors.
For instance about 40 percent of the total earnings in the federated account are constitutionally allotted to the states government every month since in  the inception of the nascent democratic dispensation in 1999 and within the period Nigeria has earned more than $ 4 trillion dollars from the recent increase in the prices of petroleum in the world market , that means close to $2 trillion dollars has been allotted to the state governments since 1999 plus the IGR internally Generated Revenue of average of 30% of the federal allocations, the states had access to above $ 3 trillion dollars in the past  one decade but unfortunately has nothing to show for this colossal sum of money that the federal government had sunk into them other than bad roads, lack of portable drinking water, illiteracy, poverty of the majority of peoples, poor and declining standards of education, mass failure in schools[ 77% failed both WASC, JAMB, NECO EXAMS], poor health delivery systems, the hospitals are mere consulting clinics, redundancy of skilled and unskilled labor, more than 200 million Nigerians are unemployed according to manufacturers Association of  Nigeria, youth restiveness, insecurity of lives and property, ravaging cases of AID ,HIV pandemic etc. Malaria and typhoid fever that is curable has become the major source of death of the people… right now the average life span is less than 40 years, no industries, nor factories, while the once that were operating before are checking out to other neighboring countries like Ghana, Togo .etc when they saw the situation of the leadership as abysmal.
Rather than the governors to assist the Federal government in the aspects of electricity power generation, all they do is globe troth round the world with their wives and girl friends, buying everything in site in a gluttonous fashion, as if tomorrow will never come…alas tomorrow is just by  the corner and it is come. The day is dawn… the hour of reckoning is come… and all we have to show is failure of virtually everything in the polity….One of the greatest embarrassment in the entirety of the history of the Human Race in the aspects of statesmanship… the situation is despicable …
And like a sinking ship who is desperate vulnerable and dangerously calculating the governor grabbed all the funds allocated to the third tier of governance the Local Government structure of 774 local government like Counties and embezzle all the funds meant for the third statutory parallel tier of government because they operate the same joint account of which the governors are sole signatories..
So, through greed, indiscretion and mismanagement of resources have also killed the Local Government structures as well. And if urgent drastic action is not taken to shape things up they have the capacity to drag the entire sovereignty into further embarrassment as they are strong collectively.
WHAT SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT DO TO SOLVE THE SITUATION?
The functional approach is to isolate the specimen than can cause further destruction to any ecosystem and begin to give it serious medical treatment addressed to rapier that portion in this context the followings must be done urgently by the federal government
!] Separate the Local Government account from the state government account and have the first tier of governance firmly rooted as an anchorage of last resort. The advantage of this is to have 774 genuine authentic functioning Local Government with a review of their constitutional provisions as in power devolution from the states to the Local government councils….so that they can function on autonomous status and bring rapid social economic development to the grass root of the polity.
2] A committee to be set up by the federal government to look into the proper situation of things with the states under the following mandate:
a] Causes of the failure of State government institution in the country
b] The actual amount of money misappropriated or looted from the treasuries of the states and a record of those who looted them
c] A recovery back of this looted funds back to the state by appealing to EFCC for support.
d] What is to be done to revamp back to standard practice the State Government institution in the country.
e] Deterrence; after bringing them back to the standard practice what cane be done to make sure they do no go distressed again.
CONCLUSION:
In classical economic theory, the conclusion will always be that funds are insufficient as the reason for the failure of the states; and if after crucial examination this was the reason for mass failure of state governments then the Federal government will have to do something for them as in re empowering them back to stable functional capacities…
NOTATIONS:
1] BLOATED LARGER THAN LIFE IMAGE OF GOVERNORS:
It is only in Nigeria that I have seen governors behaving as if they are head of Sovereign countries. They compete with the President and Ministers and Senators as if they are all equal. In trying to meet up with this bloated over inflated status quo of borrowed robs which they clad themselves in, is the crux of the entire reason of bloated state government spending and the inability for the allocations from the Federal accounts to cover their large recurrent expenditure budget, leaving nothing for the capital expenditures.
2] INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT LOANS: Those state that have taken loans of infrastructural development bias will come to ruin and grief as it is a very technical aspect of governance that can easily ruin any government be it state or federal if the moneys were solely spent on development and constructions of Roads, bridges etc in a resilient and reluctant industrial environments or perhaps non existent industrial environment… you will only be constructing roads for a few rich people to use and the majority to trek on foot , poor, unemployed, denigrated and wallowing in illiteracy, poor health delivery system, lack of portable drinking water and lack of electricity… So thenceforth all governors and local govt chairmen should invest directly in factories and take loans to build factories and not just leave that aspects to the private sector.. as the real sector of the economy contribute less than 3% to our GNP… that is the area the governors could have been highly invaluable in forming, investing and promoting small and medium scales industries with their resources… this will create a wealthy market and the multiplier effect will increase the IGR via taxes, create employment, reduce poverty and improve education and health care sectors…
DEFINITIONS & MISCONCEPTIONS ON BUDGETARY ANALYSIS:
In modern economic theories, government spending as in budgeting is classified under three categories namely:
1] CAPITAL EXPENDITURE,
2] RECURRENT EXPENDITURE
3] SOCIAL SPENDING
In Nigeria there seems to be a mixed up of this three aspects of budgeting to our own peril. For instance Road Construction is classified as Capital expenditure for the single reason that it is capital intensive; were as, this is perhaps an obscuring interpretation ;as to whether Roads have the capacity to return back the huge sums of money out played in its construction is not taken into consideration…
Road construction in comtempory times will be classified as social spending which though mandatory but should not come before  industries, investment in the real sector of the economy, production lines, electricity, etc are the crucial substances that should be classified under capital expenditure in the aspects of developing economies. State and federal government spending should be directed to the areas of the real sector of the economy which has the immediate capacities in paying itself back directly and not on Roads that has only an indirect effect of paying itself back… when you have many factories, industries and commerce in place you can now tax the industries to build modern roads…. What we are saying here is that industries and the availability and plentiful of it should be the natural areas that the state government should invest in as in the U.S.A, Germany etc that has a large percent of small and medium scale industries rolling their economies these are the real middle class that are powering big world powers…
RECURRENT EXPENDITURE: All the three tiers of governance should as a matter of urgency cut down on recurrent expenditure that is taking over 80% of the fund of the country. Looting of public funds and treasuries should also stop as this further exacerbates the situation.
AUSTERITY MEASURES: All the Tiers of Government are advised to immediately declare austerity measures and cut down on spending and spend prudently. There must be no wastage any more.
THE SENATE & LEGISLATURES CONSUMPTION OF 30% OF THE GNP TO MAKE LAWS:
Malam Sanusi Lamidi made a public out cry that if the country does not cut down the allowances and overhead of the third arm of government of National Assembly; Nigeria runs the risk of becoming bankrupt in 10 year. And it has begun just a few months after he cautioned all of us… Malam Sanusi Lamido is rightly guided…may God continue to bless him…. In Ghana, Liberia etc and most West African countries MPs have voluntarily slashed down the cost of overhead on those Nations so that money can be made available for other more pressing needs; and indeed urgent needs of other parts of the economy, but in our own case the MPs are increasing their take home and as time goes on the predictions of Malam Sanusi Lamido will come to pass …it has come to pass on the State level…we pray earnestly that it will not manifest on Federal Level….
We wish the sovereignty of Nigeria the best of all three be now and for ever…
LONG LIVE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.

EDITORIAL: MS FARIDA WAZIRI, THE EFCC, THE LEGISLATURES AND THE NIGERIAN STATE; THE R & D OF NATIONAL PEOPLES NEWS.
The constitutional amendment to change the position of the CEO of EFCC from the department of the Police force of the Nigerian Federation to be headed by a retired or serving Judge is wrong, illogical and untenable to due process and philosophical aspects of rational inferences.
This proposed bill if it is passed into law will ultimately kill the anti corruption crusade of the Nigerian Federation and inadvertently kill the entire polity as looting , anarchy will become the order of the day and could be the very causality of Nigeria becoming a failed state.
Reason must prevail that in the order of protocols of Nation State an established precedence of Crime and restitution is adhered to by all Nations of the world.
It is the duty of the Police Force to hunt for, and catch criminals as their statutory and constitutional responsibility and whence that department called EFCC- Economic and Financial Crime Commission should be headed by the Police Department, just as the name implied – Crime-- ECONOMIC & FINANCIAL CRIME COMMISSION-…
We have never seen any where in the whole world were judges go about hunting and looking for criminals all over the world, why then should our own in Nigeria be a difference… Even in the United State, Russia, United Nations etc and all over the world where the person who started the commission in Nigeria H.E Malam Nuhu Ribadu, one of the greatest sons of Africa is helping to establishing the commissions all over the world, and a great consultant in that field for the entire world,- they always use a Police personality serving or retired to head such a commission.
The Police are trained in hunting and catching criminals looting the treasuries of the Nation. What experience has a retire judge , who mostly want some quiet of retirement to begin to head a hot commission in search of vicious, draconian , devilish and dangerously calculating treasury looters and financial crime criminals…?
Is it the duty of a judge or a retired judge in the court to hunt for criminals of economic or financial crimes,? This is very funny and all of our Legislatures cannot put Heads together and arrive at this simple logic that on no condition must any other person except a respectable police officer or retire police officer head the commission and hunt and search for criminals that loot the treasuries of the Nigeria state and have plunged us into this shame and economic quagmire…
Where was the House when EX-President Olusegun Obasanjo and H.E Abubakar Atiku were forming the EFCC Commission? , was it the duty of the presidency to form and fund such a commission?, The House were sleeping then and wallowing in indiscretion and the usual lackadaisical milieu of service delivery in the Nigerian State..
Now that the Police commission of the Nigerian State has been able to achieve an enviable novel concept in the aspects of financial crimes and restitution that the whole world is adopting including the United Nations as there own contribution to world social and economic entropy the House of Representative want to steal this concept out of their hands and jettison it. This is unfair and unacceptable to all Nigerian of patriotic will. It is malicious and devilish...
If you have as axe to grind with Ms Farida Waziri , the present Amazon of EFCC  as in the trial of the former speaker House of Representative Honorable Dimeji Bankole over an alleged 10 billion Naira fraud you can do so by other means by requesting her sack but to because of the running feud between the former Leader of the House change the constitution and destroy the importance and strength of such a great commission is unpatriotic and a disservice in the aspect of legislation, and statesmanship on a global basis and a disgrace to intelligence.
In the aspect of bringing people to restitution the world over there is precedence, especially when it comes to crime and punishments…
It is the duty of the Police to catch the criminals, investigate the cases and charge the persons to a recognized court for subsequent hearing… that is the established sequence of protocol all over the world.
One wonders what we are becoming in this Nation… where has it ever been told that a judge heads a police commission that hunts and catch hardened criminals looting the treasuries of the state and the hard earn taxes of the great people of Nigeria thereby putting the entire polity to wallow in poverty , penury  and denigrations of shame, ruin and grief… the import of the offense of treasury looting is really grave and to begin to trivialize it as the Legislatures are doing is really questionable as to how patriotic this present elected 7th  Assembly of the Federation are?
Where has it ever been done that a judge head a criminal commission to hunt for criminals of economic and financial crimes…Please the Nigerian people are begging the Legislatures not to destroy Nigeria and make us a laughing stock in the international community…
And we appeal to all men and women of goodwill, that loves the continuous existence of Nigeria, to beg the Legislatures of the 7 TH Assembly not to collapse Nigeria.. This is the only country we have to call our own, let’s join hands to make it great.
LONG LIVE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA. AMEN.

EDITORIAL: LETTER TO ALL NIGERIANS ON THE TOPIC OF THE BAD SHAPE OF THE ECONOMY, OIL SUBSIDY, REDUNDANCY& CAPITAL FLIGHT.
FROM PRINCE FRANK ONAIVI UKONGA & THE        EDITORS OF NATIONAL PEOPLES NEWS

Fellow Compatriots,
I Prince Frank Onaivi Ukonga, Publisher of National Peoples News-ISSN 1549-0595, a Registered Newspaper of the Nigerian Federation with the responsibility to gather, process and discriminate information addressed to educate, promote, entertain and develop the geo-political polity towards higher standards of rectitude & summon bonum posits the following observations:
THE BAD SHAPE OF THE ECONOMY:
This Week the President of the Nigerian Federation, H.E. Goodluck Jonathan announced candidly that the economy is in bad shape. It is a courageous President that can come out and tell his people the bitter truth. I acknowledge his candidness and stratagem of coming to equity with clean hands and it will be morally justified for all and sundry to accept his humility and nobility addressed to cooperating with him to find solutions to improving the shape of the economy and get the sovereignty out of economic stagnation. And in this regards creative ideas are needed from the entire polity and we offer our own contributions from National Peoples News-. The Peoples Assembly…
HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVES: DECADES OF LOOTING & SQUANDIMANIA:
The classification of the Nigerian Economic Sovereignty by most exclusive world organizations,  classify NIGERIA , as a Nation with GNP of about $250 billion dollars per Annum, oil producing Nation and a great country of sub-Saharan Africa. That means since independence in 1960 about $12.5 Trillion dollars has accrued to the Nigerian state in estimate and the social, economic and industrial development we have to show for this large sum is rather portable. Due mainly to decades of reckless looting of the treasuries of the Nigeria State by its kleptomaniac leadership; as well as dysfunctional policy formation, inconsistent strategy and ideological  thrust , lack of patriotism, a 3 years bloody civil war, restive youth, social strives, etc….. And all other ills that we are all cognizance of…we shall not remain in one spot wallowing in regrets and self pity, we have to move forward, despite all odds.
THE CURRENT STATE OF THE ECONOMY:-
The economy is evincing symptoms of the Venezuela effects as having taking in more than it can chew and this results in stagnation of virtually all the aspects of Nation building:
INFRASTRUCTURAL DECAY;
Virtually all the national infrastructures in the country like Roads, bridges, airports, Steel Rolling Mills, Ajaokuta Iron and Steel Complex, Textile industries, Railways, Tran – Saharan gas pipeline , electricity generation and supply, water, hospitals, schools both the university , secondary and primary schools are in bad shape. To move Nigeria forward there is the imperative of a massive policy thrust in the aspect of reconstruction and rebuilding infrastructures on a gigantic National basis. This will create jobs and stimulate the economy as spending, demand and supply are corollary colligating in a Siamese symbiosis. But funds, colossal funds are needed for this.
How do we raise funds for infrastructural development…?
In classical economic theory, the two ways ever known to mankind of raising fund for development is either we use our own funds by saving it gradually until when it is big enough to fund the projects or on the contrary to use other people’s funds, and in this category you either solicit for grants from other countries as gifts or you go a borrowing if you cannot get grants and remember virtually all Nations of the world have their own problems as well so grants are few and far between… so the only option left is to go a borrowing. But remember the classical axiom that those who go a borrowing go a sorrowing. Our case is a bad case having squandered all our earnings and goodwill away in mundane adventurism out of commissions and indiscretions we have no other options but to go a sorrowing; to a borrowing.
INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT LOAN OFFER OF 100 BILLION POUND STARLING FROM THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT:
With the public out cry of Prince Frank Onaivi Ukonga through National Peoples News, for Reparations payments from those who colonized us, in all the Media that be all over the world, as well as in the most exclusive circles of decision making of the world, we have been able to adequately sensitize the problems of Nigeria and Africa as a continent in dire need of support to be able to meet up in the 21st Century.
In the past few weeks we stepped up the dreams of Basorun MKO Abiola as for Reparations payments to be in the form of assistance and not necessarily cash donations to African countries but in the aspects of foreign direct investments, loans, technological support , beneficial cooperation in trade, power generation, mining and explorations of petroleum and natural resources and we are happy that this global out cry of National Peoples News and Prince Frank Onaivi Ukonga, has began to yield great fruits in the aspects of many Nations heeding our clarion SOS call and offering mutually beneficial proposals for assistances. Just yesterday the United States of America offered a support of $ 1 billion dollars to Nigeria in the energy sector etc.
We believe at National Peoples News that we should grab the emerging opportunities of loan offers, grants, foreign direct investments etc and use it well as a second chance to quickly jump start and leap frog our economic fortunes to the right path of sustainable growth and economic prosperity…
We strongly believe that accepting the British Government offer is in the right direction.
100 BILLION pound starling will be close to N30 TRILLION NAIRA and that is just the right type of stimulus package in terms of push that the economy needs to jolt it and prod it out of sleep, drowsiness and stagnation…
The British are more cognizance of our problems in magnitude and the solution to our problems than we ourselves know it.
The United State is proposing a similar bill of job creation through a National infrastructural development of $ 447 billion dollars to develop the inner cities ghettos, build Roads, and to develop the Rural Areas of the American State. We are in the right path to join the band wagon if we pursue a similar orientation.
NATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT: STRATEGY AND POLICY THRUST:
THE PPP- Private Partnership Participation in Infrastructural Development: A few year ago I was supportive to the development of the PPP aspects of infrastructural development in developing its conceptualization on a National basis addressed to lift the burden of infrastructural Development from the shoulders of the various tiers of governments in Nigeria, through adequate concessionaries of reconstruction, and maintenance of infrastructures to the private sector of the economy.
The theory we developed only had its necessity reason de entrée, the sufficiency reasons of success of the theory was still shrouded in other factors remaining either constant or scaling upwards. But unfortunately due to the down turn of the economy those sufficiency factors that are germane to the success of the PPP plummeted along with the crash of the Stock Exchange and the world economy in generality.

ROAD & AIRPORT CONCESSIONARY:
Whence all the Banks that gave out infrastructural development loans to beneficiaries of government concessionaries became distressed and the companies themselves also crashed or barely surviving. They did not went wrong but rather they did their best as in Dr Wale Babalakin’s Airport and Lagos – Ibadan Road Concessionary, Gov Raji Fashola’s Badagry Road and a host of others. The concessionary as regards Road and airports are slightly different from those of industries. Roads and airports does not have the capacities to generate resources as much as industries, therefore other factors has to be re examined in this categories to guarantee the investments of the private sector in Roads and Airports, otherwise the private  investor will come to ruins, shame and grief.
CONSCESSIONARY OF INDUSTRIES:
The Ajaokuta and Delta Steel companies concessionaries is excluded as those involved in the steel companies’ concessionaires were merely looting the country. President Jonathan is strongly advised to recover back the Ajaokuta, Itape, and Delta steel as well as the Oshogbo tool making Rolling mills and use it as a catalyst to jump start the Nigerian industrial and technological revolution under the watchful eyes of the presidency .The three Steel companies can generate more than 3 million jobs when fully operational and its multiplier effect on the economy would be tremendous…
It is general knowledge in esoteric circles that no Nation can develop that cannot generate liquid steel; this is the simple truth of technological and industrial giant strides the world over. Apart from propaganda and profiteering of unpatriotic elements a serious investment of $1 billion dollars will be adequate to successfully jump start the 3 rolling mills to full capacities utilization and all its auxiliary industries.
We at National Peoples News Interviewed the former Russian CEO of Ajaokuta Steel complex, Alik B, Karaev in 2003, who works for a steel construction company called Tyxempromexport in charge of Ajaokuta steel mill; He told us that his company constructed 4 steel Rolling mills for India, One for Egypt, 2 for Iran, One for Britain, Some for USA, for Bulgaria, Poland etc and has constructed more than 60% of world steel Rolling mills that are working perfectly today…
We have published copies of the interview for record purposes, for any body who want to read the full details of the plans of Alik B Karaev to industrialize Nigeria. It is not too late, we can ask him to come back to finish what he started as he told us that the steel plant then was at 98 % completed. I think what he needed the money for was for a general torn around maintenance/ overhaul and installation of some new model equipments to take the steel plant to international standard.
And he told us that if the Nigerian Government mobilize him with $500,000 dollars he will get the Ajaokuta steel plant working at full capacity and, also generating up to 800 mega watt of electricity to the National grid which if given maximum interpretations in the Schumpeterian order could be expanded to generate double that power of electricity to the national grit or ever more through replications of a same underlying concept in a favorable environment.
The idea here is that Ajaokuta would kill several birds for the federal government as in job creation, electricity generation and industrialization and many other subsidiary industries that will move in droves to Nigeria if they know that we can now produce liquid steel; our imports of tools, spare parts for industries both in automobile, tools and other industries will drastically reduce and this will conserve the billions of dollars we expend in importations of spare parts and CKD components… if we have the will history is beckoning at us to make our country great .
Usually the aspect of steel and its importance to national development and pride comes under national priority interests in order to make a success of it by what ever means possible. It was a fatal policy thrust and a security risk to give out those industries…Ajaokuta ,Itape, Delta and Oshogbo mills to the private sector.
The Alscon concessionary was a success story because the Russian company involved were genuine and want the best for themselves and for Nigeria as well as, though they were the lowest bidder but ex President Obasanjo got it right, to psychic all the investors before awarding it to the lowest bidder who is serious minded. Alscon have started exporting Aluminum ingots. And these are part of what we should take into consideration before we give concessionary to private companies.
THE POWER SECTOR:
One of the most important measures of strength of Nations and standard of living is the Power Generated/ Head, by Nations. The usual standard practice of using the GNP/ Head is only for students. In reality and in exclusive business and investment circles of the world ,it is the electricity generated by Nations that is considered first, in the aspects of transfer of technology, destination countries of location of foreign subsidiaries and branches of multinational production and secondly comes the Market volume and lastly is the GNP/HEAD…
In contemporary times it is impossible for ambitious nations to meet the actual power requirement through natural hydro electricity and gas turbines while it is costly and cumbersome…
Today, it is fashionable, cheaper, and prestigious for big Nations, like Nigeria to urgently explore as a matter of expediency the Atomic and Nuclear power generation options…while it cost above to $1 billion dollars to generate 1000 MW of electricity through other forms of gas turbines, hydro electricity etc, it cost only a trifle of less than
$500 million, to generate its equivalent, using the Atomic/ Nuclear options.
Whence it is imperative to go nuclear by what ever means possible at the shortest and fastest time frame.
THE FUEL SUBSIDY REMOVAL:
At this juncture we have to tell each other the truth. And before I delve into this most important crucial issue of public discuss in Nigeria, I want to remind all that I am coming to equity with clean hands and unbiased mind for the good of the country. We squandered all our monies and opportunities before the coming to being of President Jonathan; this is truth self evident. He now came in, saddled with the responsibility of curing a sick patient. To perform surgical operation on a patient, with a terminal ailment, so that the ailment will not kill the patient. We all know that surgical operations performed to heal patient are painful and costly but necessary and mandatory for the patient to live…
And that is the whole crux of the petroleum subsidy and the reason why it has to be removed.
Apart from the fact that the actual amount of subsidy needed to cushion the economy is embellished, it is pertinent to impress it that any Nation whose main source of export earning is the oil industry runs the great risk of being underdeveloped by subsidizing that same product from where its main source of income originate .Its like you are earning with the right had and giving it out immediately with the left hand. It is illogical and uneconomical. All Efforts to diversify the oil earning into the development of a vibrant real sector of the economy failed woefully in the past.
So we have become a net exporter of capital invariably, and the little that comes from the oil export we take it again to subsidize the internal consumption; a vicious circle to no where. Then how do we get money for other aspects that needs urgent attentions like infrastructural development increase in minimum wages, health care, housing, other recurrent and capital expenditures…
We are all witness to the wanton looting of the economy for the past 50 years of our independence…we ate our tomorrow the day before yesterday; we embezzled our future yesterday; and looted our posterity and that of our children and grand children today.
One cannot eat his cake and still have it…that is the simple adamantine truth of subsequent creation in the spiritual substantiated realms…
It is time to call ourselves to a critical discussion as brothers and sister in a locked up room and tell each other the bitter truth; as the adage goes that; when brothers and sisters tell each other the truth they will start crying, but when they deceive each other after a family re union meeting you will see them smiling and laughing when coming out of the meeting.
In my own case, as Prince Frank Onaivi Ukonga, Publisher of National Peoples News, Please, count me out of such meetings, where we shall tell each other lies for the sake of smiling…I have spoken..
Good luck, President Jonathan.
