Tributes to General John Shagaya- An Ode To a Sea Lion...by

We lost another gem…yesterday we lost one…and the day before
another…..Death... be no callous stranger;
I met with General
John Shagaya in his last outing a few days ago in the celebrated NIPSS {National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies} retreat
for leaders of Political Parties in Nigeria, addressed to working out dynamic
organizational structures for Political Parties and his lectures and contributions
were remarkable addressed to entrench sustainable democratic dispensation in
Nigeria and Sub Saharan Africa…his exit from this world is still a mystery and
a sudden shock to all Chairmen of Political Parties in Nigeria…
He warmed himself into our hearts in the NIPSS {National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies} retreat a few
days ago, and we were all getting set for a new dawn in the affairs of our
democracy in Nigeria just for cruel
death to snatch the amiable General of the ECOMOG and a veteran of the dreaded
3ed Marine Commando from our midst forever. He was an erudite intelligentsia,
an author, a former Minister and Senator of the Republic..Death why do you take
away the best among us at the time they are needed most?....Woo unto thee Death…be
no stranger… nevertheless…
General John Shagaya
Fought a good fight, kept the faith, kept the flag flying …and left giant strides in the Sands of
Time….May his gentle soul rest in peace in the bosom of the Lord.
